Woman Arrested after Crash

         On 08/05/2019, at approximately 1:01PM, Ptlm. Terrence Hedrick responded to Great Cedar Swamp Rd. for a report of a motor vehicle being operated erratically.  When Ptlm. Hedrick arrived, he spoke with a witness who observed a red Hyundai Elantra with a Rhode Island registration traveling eastbound on Tremont St.  Just west of Agricultural Ave. three corners the Hyundai Elantra left the roadway and side swiped guardrail.  He then observed this vehicle make several other marked lane violations on Tremont St. After the vehicle turned onto Great Cedar Swamp Rd. it side swiped a pickup truck that was pulled to the side of the road.  Ptlm. Hedrick then spoke with the operator of the Hyundai Elantra who was identified as 37 year old Sarah Skwirz of Cumberland, Rhode Island.  While speaking with Ms. Skwirz, Ptlm. Hedrick detected noticed she had difficulty keeping her balance and detected a strong odor of an alcoholic beverage coming from her person.  Sgt. Norman Todd arrived on scene to assist Ptlm. Hedrick with his investigation.  Following a series of standardized field sobriety tests Ms. Skwirz was taken into custody without incident.  She was transported to the station where she was booked.  She was later released on $140.00 bail and is due to appear in Taunton District Court on 08/06/2019, at approximately 8:30am.  Ms. Skwirz was charged with OUI Liquor, Negligent operation of a motor vehicle, leaving the scene of a motor vehicle crash with property damage and marked lanes violations.

Cycle Chase Ends in Charges

         On 07/18/2019 at approximately 5:57PM, Chief James Trombetta observed a KTM 530EX motorcycle with a Rhode Island registration traveling west on Winthrop St. in the area of New St.  As the motorcycle went through the intersection the operator accelerated and he observed the front tire of the motorcycle lift off the ground.  After observing the motorcycle travel in this manner Chief Trombetta attempted to stop the motorcycle.  The operator refused to stop and continued traveling west.  At the intersection of Rte 44 and Rte 118 the operator of the motorcycle cut through the parking lots of Cumberland Farms and the Exxon gas station in attempt to elude Chief Trombetta.  After exiting the Exxon gas station the motorcycle continued to refuse to stop and continued into Seekonk.  After entering Seekonk the motorcycle came to a stop after crashing into another motor vehicle.  The operator of the motorcycle was identified as 21 year old Hector Nieves Medina of Pawtucket, Rhode Island.  It was learned that the motorcycle was unregistered and Mr. Nieves Medina was not licensed to operate a motorcycle.  Mr. Nieves Medina was taken into custody and transported to the Rehoboth Police Station where he was booked.  Mr. Nieves Medina was released from police custody on personal recognizance and is scheduled to appear in Taunton District Court on 07/19/2019, 8:30am for arraignment.  Mr. Nieves Medina was charged with failure to stop for police, unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle, unlawfully attaching a number plate, operating to endanger and operating an unregistered motor vehicle.  Chief Trombetta was assisted by Ptlm. Scott Sousa, Ptlm. Louis DiBacco, Ptlm. Mark Wetherell and Sgt. James Casey.

2nd Offese OUI Arrest

On Monday 07/22/2019 at 16:40 Hrs.  The Rehoboth Police Department received a report of an erratic operator on Tremont St. The caller stated that a vehicle had crossed over the center line into her lane of travel. This caused the reporting party to drive off of the roadway to avoid a collision. Off. Gil Lima responded to the area and located the suspect vehicle just over the line in Seekonk.  After observing several marked lanes violations and another near collision he stopped the vehicle on Central Ave. He was assisted at the scene by Off. Beaudoin and members of the Seekonk Police Dept.  The operator was identified as Jose Abreu, 56 of Pawtucket R.I.  After a roadside investigation which included field sobriety tests, Abreu was placed in custody and charged with: OUI Liquor 2nd Offense, Negligent Operation,  Marked Lanes Violation. Bail was set at $500. He is due in Taunton District court on 7/22/2019 to be arraigned on the charges.

Man Arrested After Short Pursuit

            On 05/20/2019 at approximately 10:40pm, Rehoboth Police dispatch received a call of erratic operator of a motor vehicle on Plain St (Rt 118) in the area of the Rehoboth/Swansea Town Line.  Officers were dispatched to the area.  The caller described the vehicle as a gray Subaru Baja pick-up truck.  Officers located the vehicle travelling north on Plain St. still being operated in an erratic manner, including driving very slowly, failing to stay within marked lanes, and failing to stop at a stop sign. After signaling the vehicle to stop Officers were finally able to stop the vehicle about a half a mile later on Cedar St.  After a brief roadside investigation, which included field sobriety testing, Officers placed the operator, and single occupant of the vehicle, under arrest.  The operator who was identified as 48 year old Edward Fortier of 37 Bark St in Swansea, Massachusetts was taken to the Rehoboth Police Department for processing.  Fortier will be arraigned in Taunton District Court on 5/21/19 on the following charges, OUI(liquor), Negligent Operation of a Motor Vehicle, Fail to Stop for Police, Fail to stop/yield stop sign, and marked lanes violation.

OUI Liquor Arrest

On 05/17/2019, at approximately 0220hrs, Sgt. James Casey was monitoring traffic on Winthrop St. (Rte 44) when he observed a gray Ford Fusion traveling eastbound.  This vehicle came to a stop in the middle of the eastbound lane of travel.  Following this Sgt. Casey observed the vehicle cross the center line twice and the fog line twice.  Following these observations the vehicle was stopped just west of Rte 118.  Ptlm. Nicholas Miranda responded to the scene to assist with the investigation.  The operator was identified as 32 year old Talia Hender of Attleboro, Massachusetts.  Following the investigation Ms. Hender was taken into custody and subsequently charged with OUI liquor as well as operation of a motor vehicle as to endanger.  Ms. Hender released from custody on personal recognizance.  Ms. Hender is scheduled to appear in Taunton District Court on 05/17/2019 for arraignment.

Pair Arrested on Fraud Charges

On 05-06-2019 at approximately 17:31 hrs. Officers from the Rehoboth Police Department responded to 514 Winthrop St.. They received information that a suspect in an ongoing investigation was present at the business and was attempting to complete a fraudulent purchase. The suspect identified as Paul Diogenes 49, of Providence also had 6 outstanding warrants for his arrest.  Officers Gil Lima and Louis DiBacco were first on scene. DiBacco identified and stopped a second suspect who was attempting to leave the scene in a motor vehicle. Officer Lima entered the business and located Diogenes who then attempted to flee. Officer Lima was able to catch and subdue Diogenes after a brief struggle.  Diogenes was arrested and charged with the 6 outstanding warrants as well as new charges of: Conspiracy, Attempted Larceny over $1,200 by false pretense, Uttering a false document, Forgery of a document, Identity Fraud, and Resisting arrest. He was held without bail and will be arraigned at a later date.

The second suspect was identified as Nicholas Pacheco 28, of North Providence RI.   After a brief investigation he was also placed into custody and charged with the following: Conspiracy, Attempted Larceny over $1,200 by false pretense, Uttering a false document, Forgery of a document, and Identity Fraud. Pacheco was later released on $3,000 cash bail and will be arraigned in Taunton District Court on Tuesday morning. Sgt. Brian Ramos, Sgt. Richard Shailor, Officer Chris Pezzuolo, and Detective Paul McGovern Assisted with the arrests and investigation.

Rehoboth OUI Arrest

            On Friday January 18, 2018 at approximately 10:31pm,  Ptlm. Gilbert Lima stopped a silver Mercedes Sedan on Davis St. for stop sign violation.  The operator of the vehicle was identified as 31 year old Paul Prindiville of Warren, Rhode Island.  After a brief roadside investigation, which included field sobriety testing, Mr. Prindiville was placed under arrest for Operating a motor vehicle under the influence of alcohol. After being placed in custody Mr. Prindiville was transported to the Rehoboth Police Department, where he was processed.  Mr. Prindiville was later released on personal recognizance.  Mr. Prindiville will be arraigned in Taunton District Court on Tuesday January 22, 2018 on the charges of OUI Alcohol, Negligent operation of a motor vehicle and the stop sign violation

River St. Investigation Nets Arrest

            On Saturday January 19, 2018 at approximately 3:05 am,  Sgt. James Casey was traveling north on River St. when he came across a black Volkswagen Golf parked in the middle of the northbound lane of travel. The vehicle had its lights on and was running.  Sgt. Casey approached the vehicle and observed a female later identified as 28 year old Racquel Pacella of Seekonk sleeping in the driver’s seat.  Ptlm. Adam Brown and Ptlm. Douglas Brown arrived on scene just after Ms. Pacella woke up.  After a brief roadside investigation, which included field sobriety testing, Ms. Pacella was placed under arrest for Operating a motor vehicle under the influence of alcohol. After being placed in custody Ms. Pacella was transported to the Rehoboth Police Department, where she was processed.  Ms. Pacella was later released on personal recognizance.  Ms. Pacella will be arraigned in Taunton District Court on Tuesday January 22, 2018 on the charges of OUI Alcohol and Negligent operation of a motor vehicle.

OUI Arrest

            On Friday January 18, 2018 at approximately 1:37am,  Sgt. James M. Casey stopped a GMC Yukon on Winthrop St. (Rte 44) for speeding.  The operator of the vehicle was identified as 51 year old James Beeley of East Providence, Rhode Island.  After a brief roadside investigation, which included field sobriety testing, Mr. Beeley was placed under arrest for Operating a motor vehicle under the influence of alcohol.  During an inventory of the vehicle a Class B drug was found.  Mr. Beeley was transported to the Rehoboth Police Department, where he was processed.  Mr. Beeley was later released on $1,040.00 cash bail.  Mr. Beeley  will be arraigned in Taunton District Court on Friday January 18, 2018 on the charges of OUI Alcohol, Operation of a motor vehicle as to endanger, possession of Class B and Speeding.

Weekend OUI Arrest made

On 01/12/19 at 1907 hrs  The Rehoboth Police Department received a call regarding an erratic operator on Bay State Road. The caller stated that the vehicle was driving approx. 5 mph and driving all over the roadway.  Officers responded to the area and a short time later Officer Lima came into contact with the vehicle on County Street in Rehoboth. After a brief roadside investigation that included field sobriety testing, the operator Robert Alexion, age 69 of Dighton, was placed in custody and charged with Operating under the influence of Liquor, Operating to Endanger, and a Marked lanes Violation. Alexion was released from police custody on personal recognizance and is due in Taunton District Court on 01/14/2019 to be arraigned on the charges.
