Woman Arrested after Crash

         On 08/05/2019, at approximately 1:01PM, Ptlm. Terrence Hedrick responded to Great Cedar Swamp Rd. for a report of a motor vehicle being operated erratically.  When Ptlm. Hedrick arrived, he spoke with a witness who observed a red Hyundai Elantra with a Rhode Island registration traveling eastbound on Tremont St.  Just west of Agricultural Ave. three corners the Hyundai Elantra left the roadway and side swiped guardrail.  He then observed this vehicle make several other marked lane violations on Tremont St. After the vehicle turned onto Great Cedar Swamp Rd. it side swiped a pickup truck that was pulled to the side of the road.  Ptlm. Hedrick then spoke with the operator of the Hyundai Elantra who was identified as 37 year old Sarah Skwirz of Cumberland, Rhode Island.  While speaking with Ms. Skwirz, Ptlm. Hedrick detected noticed she had difficulty keeping her balance and detected a strong odor of an alcoholic beverage coming from her person.  Sgt. Norman Todd arrived on scene to assist Ptlm. Hedrick with his investigation.  Following a series of standardized field sobriety tests Ms. Skwirz was taken into custody without incident.  She was transported to the station where she was booked.  She was later released on $140.00 bail and is due to appear in Taunton District Court on 08/06/2019, at approximately 8:30am.  Ms. Skwirz was charged with OUI Liquor, Negligent operation of a motor vehicle, leaving the scene of a motor vehicle crash with property damage and marked lanes violations.
