OUI Arrest

On 09/28/2018 at approximately 2242Hrs Officer Gilbert Lima was advised by a motorist of a possible DMV along Rt.44.  Upon locating this vehicle Ofc. Lima made contact with the sole occupant identified as Deanna Loiseau 03/29/1994 of Cresthill, Illinois.  During this encounter Ofc. Lima detected a strong odor of an alcoholic beverage coming from the vehicle and  Loiseau.  Upon completion of further investigation and field sobriety testing Loiseau was arrested and charged with Operating a motor vehicle under the influence of intoxicating liquor.  Loiseau was later released on personal recognizance and will be arraigned at Taunton district court on 10/01/2018.

OUI Arrest

On September 15, 2018 Swansea police called and requested the assistance of the Rehoboth police in locating a vehicle and checking the well-being of the operator.  While on patrol  Ofc. Mark Wetherell observed the vehicle in question and conducted a stop of this vehicle on Plain St.  Upon speaking with the operator, later identified as 20 year old Carina Leite of Seekonk, Ofc. Wetherell detected the strong odor of an alcoholic beverage coming from Leite.  Further investigation resulted in Leite being arrested and charged with 1) Operating under the influence of alcohol, 2) Open container of alcohol in a motor vehicle, and 3) Minor in possession of alcohol.  Leite was transported to the Rehoboth police station where she was booked and later released on personnel recognizance. Leite is scheduled to appear at Taunton district court on September 17, 2018 for arraignment.

Arrests made for Stealing Vehicle Parts

On 07/09/2018 at approximately 2:29 AM Officers responded to the Herb Chambers Honda lot located at 533 Winthrop St. for a report of a suspicious vehicle parked in the rear lot. The vehicle was called in by an employee. With the assistance of the Seekonk Police  and one of their K9’s officers located a U-Haul truck in the back lot of the establishment. Officers then located two suspicious persons located in the in the area with the assistance of the K9. After a short foot pursuit and a brief struggle the two were apprehended. After completing an investigation it was determined that the two were there to steal parts from the vehicles on the lot.  Arrested were 18 year old Ramon Silverio of Providence & 23 year old Eric Jimenez also of Providence. Both later appeared in Taunton District Court for arraignment on charges of Stealing Motor Vehicle parts, Possession of Burglarious Tools, Conspiracy, Resisting Arrest, and Trespass with a Motor Vehicle.

OUI Drug Arrest Made

          On Sunday July 8, 2018 at approximately 2:45pm,  Rehoboth Police Department Dispatch received E-911 calls in regards to an erratic operator travelling east on Winthrop St. (Rt. 44).  The caller stated the vehicle a blue GMC pick- up truck was swerving all over the road and driving in the oncoming lane of travel.  Rehoboth Officers intercepted the vehicle in the area of 503 Winthrop St.  The suspect vehicle failed to stop for the Officers and continued operating all over the roadway.  The Officers were able to get the suspect vehicle to stop about ¾ of a mile down Winthrop St.  After a brief roadside investigation the operator of the vehicle, and lone occupant, was placed under arrest.  During the search of the suspect vehicle, Rehoboth Police found several bottles of liquor, marijuana, Suboxone, and heroin.  The suspect was transported to the Station where he was processed and positively identified as 32 year old Kevin W O’Connell of Norwood, Massachusetts.  O’Connell was released on $240.00 cash bail, and will be arraigned in Taunton District Court on Monday July 9, 2018.  O’Connell was charged with Operation a Motor Vehicle under the Influence of Liquor, Operation of a Motor Vehicle under the Influence of Drugs, Operating a Motor Vehicle so as to Endanger Lives and Safety, Failure to Stop for a Police Officer, Possession of a Class A Drug (Heroin), and Possession of a Class E Drug (Suboxone).

Man Arrested for Assault with a Dangerous Weapon

On Friday May 4, 2018 at approximately 10:10 hours the Rehoboth Police Department responded to Hawkswoods Farm at  25 Mason St. for a disturbance between to male parties. While en route officers were advised that one of the subjects had made threats with a knife.Upon arrival Off. Greg DeCastro and Officer Jake Miranda separated the two subjects and initiated their investigation. After speaking with both parties and locating the knife in question, William Saviano age 56 of Rehoboth was placed in custody. He was booked and transported to Taunton District Court to be arraigned on a Assault With a Dangerous Weapon charge.

Fatal Motor Vehicle Crash on Route 6

On 05/04/2018 at approximately 0125 the Rehoboth police and Fire department responded to the area of 40 Fall River Ave. for the report of a motor vehicle crash.  Preliminary investigation determined that the vehicle involved had been travelling eastbound along Fall River Ave. before it went off the roadway and into the parking lot of an area business.  The vehicle struck a parked tractor trailer unit causing both vehicles to catch fire.  The lone occupant inside the vehicle was deceased at the scene.  Rehoboth police along with the Massachusetts State police continue to investigate this crash.

OUI Arrest made in Rehoboth

On 04/21/18 at 0621hrs Rehoboth Police received a call for a white vehicle travelling in an erratic manner on Rte. 44 (Winthrop St). The cell phone caller reported the vehicle traveling eastbound crossing the center-line multiple times almost causing a collision.  Lt. James Medeiros and Officer David Aguiar were able to locate the vehicle, still driving erratically, on Winthrop Street in the area of #116.  The vehicle was subsequently stopped and Officer Aguiar conducted an investigation resulting in the driver, Jorge Atehoutua age 48 of Pawtucket, RI, being taken into custody.  Atehoutua is being charged with OUI Liquor, Negligent Operation of M/V and a Marked Lanes Violation. Atehoutua was later released from the Rehoboth Police Custody on personal recognizance and is due in Taunton District Court on 04/23/18 for arraignment.

Rehoboth Police make Arrest after Seekonk Crash

On  04/21/18  at approximately 15:11 hrs. the Seekonk Police Department contacted us to make a notification regarding a property damage hit and run crash that had occurred in their town. The vehicle had reportedly struck a stone wall on Fall River Ave. and then fled the scene. While in route to make the notification, Off. Jake Miranda spotted the involved vehicle fail to stop at a stop sign on Fairview Ave. Off. Miranda stopped the vehicle and confirmed that it had front end damage consistent with the reported accident. Officer Jasson Ferreira and Officer Arthur Beaudoin arrived on scene to assist with the investigation. While speaking with the operator Officers detected signs and symptoms of intoxication. At the conclusion of their investigation the operator of the vehicle, Michaela Haggerty 23 of Rehoboth, was placed in custody and charged with operating under the influence of alcohol second offense, negligent operation of a motor vehicle and failure to stop at a stop sign. She will be arraigned on those charges at Taunton District court on Monday.  The Seekonk Police Department will be seeking their own charges for the crash.

One Under Arrest after Vehicle Stop

On 04/23/18 at approx. 3:15p.m. Officer Lima and Officer DeCastro responded to the area of Rte. 44 and Rte. 118 for the report of a vehicle operating erratically.  Upon arrival Officers located the vehicle in question parked in the lot of the Exxon Gas Station.  During the course of their investigation

the operator of the vehicle was determined to be unlicensed to operate a motor vehicle.  The driver Paulina Panciera age 20 of Westerly RI and Tennessee was taken into custody.  While being searched subsequent to her arrest Officers located a clear bag with a brown powdery substance suspected to be heroin.  Panciera was taken to the Rehoboth Police Station for booking and was later released on bail.  Panciera is due in Taunton District court on 04/24/18 for the charges of Unlicensed Operation Motor Vehicle and Possession of a Class A Substance.

Taunton Man Arrested for O.U.I.

On 03/10/2018 at approximately 5:35 PM Rehoboth officers responded to Rt44 near the intersection of Rt118 for the report of a vehicle stopped in traffic and the operator was unresponsive.  Upon arrival Ofc. Wetherell and Sgt. Forget observed a white Honda CRV stopped in the eastbound lane with a male operator that appeared to be sleeping.  Officers were unable to gain entry into the vehicle due to the doors being locked. Officer Wetherell and Sgt. Forget began banging on the windows and yelling in an attempt to wake up the operator.  After several attempts the operator awoke and unlocked the doors.  Sergeant Forget reached in and placed the vehicle into park and turned off the engine.  Officer DiBacco arrived and requested that the operator who was identified as Antonio O. Monteiro 10/18/54 of Cohannet St Taunton, MA exit the vehicle and submit to field sobriety tests.  At the completion of these tests Monteiro was placed under arrest and transported to the Rehoboth police station for the booking process.  Monteiro has been charged with OUI-liquor and Negligent operation of a motor vehicle.  He was booked and later released on Personal recognizance.  Monteiro is scheduled to appear in Taunton District court on Monday March 12, 2018 for arraignment for the above mentioned charges.
